General Questions

1. What is Lace Up for Cancer?
Lace Up for Cancer is a fundraising walk to benefit the Dana-Farber Brigham Cancer Center in clinical affiliation with South Shore Health.

2. What are the funds used for?
 Every dollar raised stays local and funds world-class cancer services including prevention, screening, and education efforts.

3. Where is the Lace Up for Cancer walk?
Lace up for Cancer will take place at Weymouth High School (WHS) located at 1 Wildcat Way, Weymouth, MA 02190. For directions, visit our Event Information page. The walk route is either a 0.5- or 1.5-mile loop leaving Weymouth High School, walking past the Cancer Center, and back. 

4. Who can participate in the walk?
All are welcome! Lace Up for Cancer is successful because of passionate supporters in our community who attend, raise money as individuals or teams, donate, or sponsor. Teams vary from family and friends to businesses and organizations.

5. Can I bring a dog to the event?
Yes, dogs are welcome, but please keep in mind they must be leashed. Per WHS policy, no dogs are allowed on the track.

6. Can I bring a stroller to the event?
Yes, this is a family friendly event and all ages are welcome. Per WHS policy, no strollers are allowed on the track.

8. Do you need volunteers?
Yes, volunteers are always welcome! Volunteers are needed Friday, June 9, and Saturday, June 10. All volunteers must register in advance. If you are interested in signing up, please check out our volunteer page

Registration Questions

1. Is there a fee to register?
No. There is no fee to register, but contributions of any amount are greatly appreciated. Lace Up for Cancer is a fundraising event with a $150,000 goal.

2. Do I need to register before the event?
YES! All attendees participating in the in-person Lace Up for Cancer walk need to register on our website before Saturday, June 10. Registration is required for you to sign our event waiver and to ensure a seamless check-in on the morning of the walk.  

3. How do I register?
All participants must register on our website. Click here to be redirected to the registration page. Online registration is easy, free, and provides great benefits!

4. Why should I form a team?
Because it’s fun! Supporters can recruit family members, colleagues, and friends to walk together as a team. Together, you can create team t-shirts and signs, and honor loved ones impacted by cancer.

5. Is there a min or max amount of participants allowed on a team?
No! Teams large and small are welcome!

6. I registered as an individual, but now want to join a team! How can I do that?

7. I can’t remember my log-in information. What do I do?

8. What is the Participant Center?
The Participant Center is a tool for you to manage fundraising progress, customize your personal pages, and send emails.

Donation Questions

1. How can I turn in donations? 
There are 3 ways to turn in donations:

  • Share the link to your fundraising page to have supporters donate online
  • Mail in donations to: South Shore Health Foundation, ATTN: Lace Up for Cancer, 55 Fogg Road, South Weymouth, MA  02190
  • Bring donations with you to hand in at the event. Please secure all donations in an envelope with your name and team name (if applicable) on the front.

2. Who should donation checks be made out to?
Please make all checks payable to “South Shore Health Foundation”.

3. I mailed in a check, but it is not reflected on my person fundraising page. When will it appear?
 Please allow 2 weeks for processing all offline gifts that are mailed in.

Fundraising Questions

1. Is there a minimum I must fundraise to participate?
 No, Lace Up for Cancer has no fundraising minimums.

 2. Can I still fundraise even though I can’t attend the event?
YYes, thank you! Register online so you can create a fundraising page. An online fundraising page is an easy and convenient way to ask for and collect donations. Offline donations can be mailed to: South Shore Health Foundation, ATTN: Lace Up for Cancer, 55 Fogg Road, South Weymouth, MA 02190

3. Do you accept matching gifts?
Yes. Many companies have a matching gift program for their employees. As an employee you can make a donation and your employer will match that gift. Some companies have specific policies on how much they will match. After making the donation, inquire with your HR Department about a matching gift program. If they have one, paperwork will most likely need to be filled out. This is an easy way to grow your fundraising total with minimal effort!
